Hi Jen, I watched this clip a couple of times to try and get the meaning of the song. I really enjoyed watching it and listening to her trying to find her way and opening up her world to new beauty and light. What did you find meaningful about the song? Thanks for sharing!
I love this song because I've wanted to learn how to pursue joy and truth (in Christ)and live a life with as little mistakes as possible hoping that the heartache won't be as significant...at least due to my own faults and weaknesses. Sin is impossible to escape...and sin brings sorrow, but I appreciate the reminder that life doesn't end just because there is pain and heartache. By God's grace, he uses this for our sanctification and it is beautiful in his sight. You see Yael trying to cover over the plain sad reality with only the imitation of true beauty as she papers the walls. She eventually finds what she's been missing the moment she pushes down the walls and there is absolute silence except for the sounds of nature as she views the real beauty around her that God has created. I find that absolutely inspiring. We can try so hard to fill our lives with imitations of joy and beauty to fill in the void and the sorrow, but there is nothing more fulfilling than Christ. There is meaning and beauty beyond it all in Him!. I appreciate songs that touch on sadness without the melancholy sound (unless it is Sacred Harp singing). It deals with reality yet keeps it in a more light atmosphere and that is where I want to live...in the Light of Jesus!
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? Song of Solomon 1:7

I am a sinner saved by the grace of my risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who is the Messiah. I am privileged that the Lord has allowed me to stay at home and fulfill my passions and callings this side of heaven. This is my delight!
